Getting Started
It's exciting to see an orthodontist for the very first time and think about your new smile. At Clauss Orthodontics in Watertown and Middlebury, our new patient consultations are always free of charge.
Even if you decide not to get braces — or just want a second opinion — we’re here to answer any questions you have so you can make an informed decision about the future of your smile.
Schedule Your Appointment
When you call us or use the form on our site, our staff will collect your information so everything's on file at the time of your appointment.
We’ll also ask you to complete your new patient forms prior to your arrival. This saves you time and allows us to see you more quickly.
When You Arrive
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to your first appointment to complete any additional new patient paperwork and start the check-in process. Be sure to bring a copy of your insurance card.
X-Ray and Exam
Our treatment coordinator will give you a tour of our office and answer any questions that you might have. Then, we will take a series of digital photos, a full mouth digital X-ray, and possibly a digital iTero scan (“virtual impression”).
In some cases, we may also take a 3D cone beam scan to assess more complex bite issues. All of these images are included in your free initial exam.
Your Consultation
After we collect all of the information we need, Dr. Clauss will examine your teeth, jaws, and other orofacial anatomy. Then, he'll talk about which treatment options are available to correct your tooth misalignment.
You'll have the opportunity to ask questions and go over which type of braces you prefer or that work best for your situation. From here, Dr. Clauss will create a treatment plan that best fits your needs and go over length of service.
Insurance Options and Payment Plans
Once you’ve narrowed it down to one or two treatment options, our treatment coordinator will review the financial information with you.
We're happy to work with you and your carrier to maximize benefits, limit your out of pocket expenses, and determine a payment plan that is right for you.
We never want finances to stand in the way of a new smile, so you can get an interest free payment plan.
Starting Treatment
Depending on the type of braces that you decide to get, we can even start treatment on the very same day. If time is an issue, our patient coordinator will help you determine the best time and date to come back to start treatment!
