What is Dental Monitoring?

Much of modern life has become technology filled and the recent push to virtual interactions has spread to even your orthodontic experience. With the power of mobile technology there is an app for practically everything. We know that much of your time is spent on your phone or another device, so here at Clauss Orthodontics, we are embracing this new technology by implementing Dental Monitoring. This is a cutting-edge program that utilizes an app to track your orthodontic progress. While it doesn’t replace all of your in-office appointments, it does allow us to monitor your progress more closely on a weekly basis which allows you to experience a more personalized treatment without disrupting your life.

How does Dental Monitoring work?

New doesn’t have to mean complicated. We all struggle a bit with change but with a few simple steps, you can be on your way to a confident smile without sacrificing so much of your personal time with in-office appointments.

First, you will need to install the app and have Dr. Clauss and his team help you get set up. This consists of a practice scan that will give you a “NO-GO” response for moving to your next aligner. Later in the process, you will receive a “NO-GO” if you should wait or a “GO” if you are ready for your next step. From there, you will be prompted by the app to take routine intraoral selfies that communicate the progress of your tooth movement and are automatically sorted, cropped, organized, and stored for review. Dr. Clauss will receive the images, or scans, and process the data with the software to predict the future movement of your teeth. He can make adjustments and advise on further treatment all from the app. This also becomes helpful for situations that may arise and couldn’t be predicted as you can communicate with us when you need instead of waiting for your next appointment.

This new program allows you to take a more active role in your orthodontic treatment and can help your process be more effective and efficient at the same time. By using the latest technology available, Dr. Clauss is able to meet you where you are to make the treatment more effortless while routine personal scans create better orthodontic habits for you at the same time.

What is Dental Monitoring?

Does Dental Monitoring replace my orthodontist?

This process takes a lot of the nuance out of your orthodontic journey but it is here to assist your orthodontist, not replace us. This data-driven approach makes our treatment much more personal without the added stress of time that check ups can consume. Dental monitoring uses control vision technology that has been around for quite some time and specifically used in orthodontic treatment since 2013. In combination with a highly experienced team of orthodontists and engineers, we are able to collect and analyze data provided by your handheld device with advanced accuracy.

With all of the perks of this use of technology, it is still only a tool that compiles data about your orthodontic treatment progress. Dr. Clauss will begin your treatment with an expert diagnosis and Dental Monitoring may be a part of your treatment, if you choose. You will still need to schedule in-office appointments but our team will be able to make those appointments more timely with all of the information they are able to access from your participation in Dental Monitoring.
