Invisalign® is relatively easy to fit into your busy lifestyle. Even busy adults and working professionals find that clear braces give them the results — and freedom — that they’ve been looking for.

For almost 20 years, Invisalign has been perfecting the clear braces experience. What was once reserved for only mild tooth misalignment cases can now be the preferred type of treatment for adults with complex bite needs.

food choices

Food and Diet

One of the biggest advantages (aside from being “invisible”) that Invisalign offers, is the freedom to eat whatever you want. Traditional orthodontic patients have a lengthy list of foods to avoid, but that’s not the case when your aligners are removable. Just take your Invisalign trays out at each meal, clean your teeth afterward, and put the aligners back in. It’s simple!

Any time that you are drinking a beverage that contains sugar or dark colors, remove your aligner. Otherwise the acids and stain particles can collect under the tray, causing unwanted cosmetic and health effects to your teeth.

Oral Hygiene and Maintenance

Keeping your teeth clean during Invisalign treatment is relatively easy! Remove your aligner at least twice a day to thoroughly brush and floss your teeth. Use lukewarm tap water to brush and clean the inside of your tray before putting it back in your mouth. Do not use hot water, as it could cause Invisalign to warp.

Toothpaste can also be used, as long as it is gentle and non-abrasive. Harsh chemicals or rough products (such as baking soda) can damage the surface of the aligners or cause them to scratch.

change your aligners

Because Invisalign relies on pressure to move the teeth, it’s vital that you wear the aligners as directed. In most cases, you should wear your trays for a minimum of 20 hours per day. This provides you with enough buffer time to remove them for situations such as:

  • Meals
  • Brushing and Flossing
  • Important Social Events

All Invisalign aligners include a built-in wear indicator, to remind you when it’s time to change them out. The small blue dot will gradually go away, triggering you to shift to the next set of aligners on a biweekly basis.

go about your day

If you’re concerned about the discomfort that’s possible with wearing metal braces, Invisalign allows you to avoid having any fixed appliances. The smooth, custom fitted aligners fit specifically to your unique smile. There are no rough brackets or areas that you’ll need to apply orthodontic wax to.

Plus, Invisalign doesn’t have to be “adjusted” once a month the way conventional orthodontics do. Instead, your teeth are slightly moved every two weeks, when you switch to the next set of aligners. The gradual progression makes the overall process seem gentler on your teeth in general.

Awesome experience with my daughters first appointment this week. We even just received a super sweet personalized note in the mail! All staff made her feel comfortable as she was a little hesitant.
